Home of the Mackrell Charity in Sturminster Marshall
Hall Hire
The hall is frequently hired out for children's parties, celebrations, music rehearsals, interest groups and organisations.
The Village
The village of Sturminster Marshall is off the A350, just north of the junction with the A31. It is 7 miles south of Blandford Forum and 5 miles west of Wimborne. The river Stour runs through the village and just a short walk away is the National Trust’s White Mill.
The Old School is opposite the village church of
St Mary ......and next to the Red Lion pub (which serves excellent beers and food).
The Old School has its own parking.
Nearby walks include the Stour Valley Way and the Wareham Forest Way.
Facilities
The Old School had a new kitchen fitted in 2019 with a commercial dishwasher and twin cookers both having induction hobs and a total of 4 ovens. A wide serving hatch links to the main hall. There are ladies’, men’s and disabled toilets. The main hall can seat 80-100 people, although this number is reduced when tables are in use. Ample tables and upholstered chairs are available.
As well as the main hall there is a smaller room, separated by a folding partition. When closed these can be used as two separate spaces, when open it becomes one large space. We can provide a piano for the use of music groups.
All parts of the Old School are fully accessible and the main entrance has a ramp. In addition, the main hall is equipped with a hearing loop.
We are extremely grateful to the TVT for the grant which enabled the kitchen refurbishment.
